How do I get badges?
When you join and take your promise you will receive your Membership Award, the District/County Badge and our Group Name Tape.  If you attend regularly you should be able to earn Activity Badges and Challenge Awards which go on your shirt. It is also possible to work for Staged and Activity Badges at home.
Every year you receive the next level of Joining In Awards to show how many years you have been a part of the group.
When you come to camps and other events you may receive a badge as a souvenir - this is for your camp blanket, or a hoody (not your shirt).

Where do the different badges go?

This is the diagram for Scouts, but it is essentially the same for all sections - there are just fewer Challenge Awards for the Beavers and Cubs.

What badges can I earn?
In addition to the Staged Activity Badges which run across all sections, you can find descriptions of all the Challenge Awards and Activity Badges here:

Beavers
Cubs

What happens when I change section?

The badges you received when you joined transfer to your new shirt.

You move the highest value of Joining In Award to your new shirt, the others can go on your Scout blanket.

The Staged Activity Badges transfer to your new shirt. If you have more than 1 level, of the same badge.you just transfer the higher one.

If you have received a Chief Scout's Award in the section you are moving from (Bronze, Silver or Gold) that goes on your new shirt.

All other badges can go on your Scout blanket as a souvenir of what you have achieved.
