Explorers

After being a Scout, there are 2 possible next steps, and many young people will choose to do both.  The stage that follows Scouts is Explorers, there are several in Oldham, most of our Scouts move on to Barry's group which meets at Coldhurst, there is also one at Moorside and one in Royton.

Become a Young Leader
We hope that a lot of our Scouts will also stay with us to become Young Leaders, indeed some begin their volunteering with other sections, whilst they are still Scouts.

Explorers in Oldham

All Young Leaders are also registered as Explorers, unless they leave after their Duke of Edinburgh volunteering time is over. There are 2 Explorer Units covering Oldham, and young people are welcome to go along to either (or both!)
Oldham Explorer Unit meets at Holy Trinity Church, Coldhurst.

Explorers get to plan what they would like to do, and enjoy a range of fun and adventurous activities. The different awards available to them culminate in the Queen's Scout Award - the most prestigious award for Scouts in the Scout Association, UK.
