Welcome to the
Nature Club

Be a Naturalist

Now that we are all staying at or close to home, this is the perfect opportunity to find out more about our own little patch.  If you have any outdoor space that you can find out about, you can do some of these activities - even if it's just a couple of pots and a bird feeder.

Apart from it being a great thing to do, there are also badges to be earned!

Find out how the Cubs and Scouts can earn the Naturalist Badge.

There are also details on OSM Badges at Home.  All the activities you need to do will be posted here on this page. Under current circumstances, the area you are studying can be your own garden.

Explorers
As part of the requirements for your Platinum Chief Scout's Award one possible activity is something to improve your local environment.  For example you could find out about the nature in your garden, and then research and put into action how you could make it more nature friendly.

Garden Birds

Have a go at identifying the birds coming to your garden or outside area, and make a list of what you see, (there is a bird identifier over on the right to help you).  This week I have had blackbirds with lots of twigs and leaves in their beaks: they must be building a nest.

Beavers can earn the Animal Friend Badge by finding out about and looking after the birds in the garden.

Visit our Nature Notes Blog
Tell us about anything nature-related that you do - either by email or on the blog, and we'll tick off any badge links.
