Passwords and Flying

29/9/2020

This evening Beavers thought about the importance of safety online and having a secure password and used an activity suggested by the Scouts to think of a secure password of their own.
For the Stage 1 Air Activities badge, Beavers talked about the different planes they would like to fly in, and showed us examples. They then used this great video to show them how to make a paper whirly-bird - which all flew really well!
Thank you to Andy for running the meeting.

2 New Badges

This week the Beavers started finding out about 2 new staged badges we are going to cover.  We started with Digital Citizen, and thought about the information that we share with our families and friends and what information we should share with people we don't know.
After this we went on a virtual visit to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Virginia.  We had a chance to look at the range of flying machines there and think about what sort of plane we might like to fly in.

This week's mission for the Beavers is to tell us next week what sort of plane they would like to fly in - they can show us a picture or model if they would like to.
This week's meeting was run by Erica. Thank you to Lottie's Mum Jen, for being our second adult.

Animal Friend

14 of our Beavers completed their Animal Friend booklets over the Easter holidays. They looked after dogs, cats, rabbits, goldfish and a baby chick.
5 Beavers chose to look after garden birds.
They kept a diary which told us how they looked after their animal, and some other details such as where they live, and what they like to do.

The Beavers were tasting different apples and voting for their favourites this week. The overall favourite was Royal Gala, although one Beaver did actually opt for Bramley. You can see what they thought of them all here:
