3 occasions that I have 'done my best'

3/5/2011

As discussed at tonight's meeting, one of the steps towards the completion of the Promise Challenge of the Chief Scouts Gold Award is being able to describe three occasions recently when you have done your best. To fulfil the requirements of the task, just click on the 'Add a comment' button below and tell us when and what each of your 3 examples of 'your best' were and how it has made a difference - whether to you or to anyone else.

One example would be:
2nd May - I attended a football match and as an elderly man was getting up to leave the ground he lost his footing and fell to floor. I went to see if he was OK and whether he was hurt, offering to get a first aider if needed. He was unhurt but shaken. I helped him to his feet and stayed with him until his wife returned. He thanked me for my help - my 'best' made a difference to him in a frightening situation.

Any questions, please ask one of the leaders. Remember to give three examples, rememberto say who your 'best' made a difference to and how and make sure you include your name in your response.

1. 27th March - I (along with the rest of the orchestra) entered the NFMY competition and I did my best to get through to Birmingham, we have now got through. this made a difference to the conductor.

1. Last October I gave up my Saturday morning to help represent my school (Blue Coat) on their open day. This made a difference to the school because it effects who comes to the school and it improves their reputation. It also makes a difference to any one who came to the open day because it allows them to see more of what the school has to offer and may affect their decision on which school they go to.

2. On the 16th March I attended a Spelling Bee Regional Language Competition to represent myself and my school. This made a difference to the school's reputation because it shows that they teach their students German and that they are dedicated to it.

3. On friday 6th March I saw the old man who lives across the road, Frank walking to pretty much the same destination as me when I got off the bus. I talked to him on the way up about various things. This made a difference to Frank as he's quite lonely at the moment as his wife is really struggling now so it gave him some company and it seemed to cheer him up because he smiled as I said good bye and was laughing quite a lot.

1. February 2010, When my Mum and I were in Sea World, I found a mobile phone in the toilet, I sent a text to the owners DAD in the contacts list. The phone rang and it was the owners mum, DAD had passed on our message, my Mum and I arranged to meet her at the front gates and she was very relieved to get her phone back and pleased we were from England. A good turn for her and our Country !

2.November 2010, I was the first pupil in my school to take a music exam. I practised hard and tried my best and received a distinction. My school and my family were proud of me. I was also very happy too !! :)

3. March 2011, My Mum and I were passing Lidl and noticed Derek our elderly neighbour shopping inside, he was recovering from a broken hip and was struggling with his trolly and his crutches, I asked Mum to stop so that I could help him. Mum then gave him a lift home and I helped him into his house. He was very grateful and I he wzas very happy the we had stopped and helped him.
